Is Kedarnath yatra open now?



Kedarnath is one of those shrines that every Hindu devotee hopes to see at least once in their lives. Actually Kedarnath Yatra is a part of the Char Dham Yatra. The main attraction of Kedarnath Yatra is the KedarnathTemple which is in the Rudraprayag district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand.

The Kedarnath temple is also one of the Panch Kedar and twelve Jyotirlingas. Akshaya Tritiya determines the date of the opening of the Kedarnath temple. Kedarnath is not only a lovely location, but it also has historical value. 

According to the history of Kedarnath Dham, Janmejaya of the Pandava dynasty built the Kedarnath temple, made of stone in the Katyrui style. However, it is also stated that Adi Guru Shankaracharya founded the Kedarnath temple. 

Kedarnath attracts not just pilgrims but also nature lovers and explorers because of the tremendous spirit and beautiful environment surrounding the temple. People come here to pray to Lord Shiva but to feel as if they have attained Moksha.

The opening date of Kedarnath Yatra

During the winter, the gates of the Kedarnath Temple, and those of the other Char Dham holy locations, stay closed. And the gates are only open in April and May. Unlike the previous year, the fatal covid illness will be eradicated in 2022. 

The opening date of Kedarnath Temple is determined by the auspicious day of Akshay Tritya, which is celebrated on Maha Shiva Ratri at Omkareshwar temple Ukhimath in the presence of Kedarnath Temple priests and Badri-Kedar Mandir Samiti. According to the estimations, the doors of the sacred temple will be opened in the morning of April-May 2022 with a special Pooja in the temple. The opening and closure dates of Kedarnath for 2022 have only recently been confirmed. The gates of Kedarnath will open on May 7, 2022 (tentatively). 

The closing date of the Kedarnath temple is always the same since the gates of Kedarnath Temple close on Bhaidooj. So, whichever date Bhai Dooj falls on becomes the temple closing date each year. The temple will reopen in 6 months or after the winter break.

Kedarnath Yatra is notable for being one of the Hindu Char Dham Yatra. Kedarnath Dham is situated at 3584 meters above sea level near the head of the Mandakini river.
